Description
The Norfolk Arms is a charming Georgian Coaching Inn, built over
200 years ago by the 10th Duke of Norfolk. It soon became the
local meeting place and a popular resting spot for weary
travellers. To this day the Arundel Society for the Prosecution of
Thieves and Felons still hold their annual Dinner at the Hotel - a
tradition which dates back to the 18th century.
The hotel is set under the battlements of Arundel Castle and has
an atmosphere of traditional permanence, the kind that prevails in
all the gracious buildings that make up Britain's colourful
heritage.
Arundel is the ideal base from which to explore the beautiful
countryside and many places of interest in West Sussex. Along with
three designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty - Chichester
Harbour, the Sussex Downs and the High Weald, this area offers a
diversity of fascinating places to visit.
There are many acres of Gardens open to the public, with unique
collections of rare trees and flowering shrubs. Historic buildings
include Arundel Castle, Chichester Cathedral, Goodwood House,
Parham House and the Roman Villa at Bignor. National Trust
properties in the area include the Petworth House and Park, famous
for its beautiful deer park and fine collection of paintings, many
by Turner and Van Dyck. The area also boasts museums to suit all
the family ~ toys, militaria, local history, aviation,
archaeology, agriculture and country crafts are just some of the
topics on display.
Other places to visit include vineyards, windmills and watermills,
steam railways, amusement parks and arts and craft centres.
Conference Facilities
Our self contained
conference rooms are used for a variety of meetings and private
functions. The Fitzalan Howard ballroom, with the added advantage
of natural daylight, is the main meeting hall. its elegant
features make it the ideal venue for many different types of
events but for meetings it can comfortably accommodate up to 100
delegates theatre style.
There are two other smaller meeting rooms and syndicate rooms
available. Conference equipment includes flipcharts, overhead
projector and screens, VHS video and monitor. Further audio-visual
equipment can be hired on a daily basis by prior agreement.
Notepads, pencils, fruit squash and mints are provided, while
photocopying and fax facilities are also available.
